I am a photographer and a journalist who lives in Marin County, California. I am available for corporate and editorial assignment.
In my personal work, I concentrate on documentary photography in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I photograph families who have returned to their home towns after living in the United States (working as an assistant to a Fulbright fellow who produced a documentary on the subject, Una Vida, Dos Paises), and single mothers and children associated with a now defunct children’s shelter. Some of this work was shown in 2017 at the Centro Fotográfico Manuel Álvarez Bravo in Oaxaca, as part of major exhibition honoring the late documentary photographer Mary Ellen Mark, my friend and mentor.
In Mexico and wherever I travel, I shoot on the street, working mainly with wide angle lenses. My philosophy is summarized in these words of Mary Ellen: “Photograph the world as it is. Nothing’s more interesting than reality.”
